Universal has released the German theatrical trailer today, and I’m sure the American version will follow in the next days. Additionally, USA Today has posted a first batch of production stills. Co-writer/director Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat) pulls from centuries-old European folklore to unleash a holiday-movie monster with Krampus (in theaters Dec. 4), which dabbles in Christmas film tropes as well as horror, comedy and dark fantasy. “It’s one thing to be terrified or enthralled when you’re watching a film,” the filmmaker says. “To then leave the theater and realize it’s based on real myths and legends only makes it sink in even deeper.” In the movie, young Max (Emjay Anthony) has reached the precarious age where he clings to the idea of Santa, even though the rest of the world doesn’t believe in him. The Christmas spirit really takes a hit when the boy sees how his dysfunctional family — including Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner and Allison Tolman — behaves when they come together for yuletide cheer, and Max is pretty much done with the whole thing. A couple of weeks after the international trailer for “Miss You Already”, the film’s US trailer has made its debut as well. Its set in the same tone but features a couple of new scenes. You can watch the trailer in the video archive.

Offering a rare look into her private life and her family’s heritage, Toni Collette will be featured on Who Do You Think You Are on August 11, 7:30pm on SBS. Toni has grown up knowing only one grandparent, her father’s mum, Norma. Delving into the enigma of her grandparents she uncovers a tale of abandonment and tragedy, a secret wartime affair, and an unexpected ancestor. And a DNA test serves only to deepen the mystery. A trailer, screencaptures, stills and promotional pictures have been added to the archives.

Some fantastic clips from the past have been added to the video archive, including interviews from the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, where “Muriel’s Wedding” premiered, the 1997 premiere of “Clockwatchers” at the Sundance Film Festival, 1998’s premiere of “Velvet Goldmine” at Cannes, the Hollywood premiere of “The Sixth Sense”, as well as reports on Toni’s Broadway debut in “The Wild Party” and her appearance at the Academy Awards luncheon in 2000.
