According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons has joined Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette in Juror No. 2, the legal thriller Clint Eastwood is directing for Warner Bros. Shooting is currently underway in Atlanta. In addition to Hoult and Collette, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Leslie Bibb, Chris Messina and Kiefer Sutherland are on the call sheet. Per the studio’s official logline, the script by Jonathan Abrams follows family man Justin Kemp (Hoult) who, while serving as a juror in a high-profile murder trial, finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma … one he could use to sway the jury verdict to potentially convict – or free – the wrong killer. Simmons will play one of the jurors. Collette is playing the prosecutor, Basso the accused, and Messina the public defender. Deutch is playing Hoult’s wife, while Sutherland is the lead’s AA sponsor. On top of directing, Eastwood is producing via his production company Malpaso. Tim Moore and Jessica Meier of Malpaso and Dichotomy’s Adam Goodman and Matt Skiena are also producing.

Clint Eastwood showed he’s not ready to slow down yet when he was spotted filming his upcoming film “Juror No. 2” on Tuesday in Savannah, Georgia. According to the Daily Mail, which provides us with pictures from the actors on set, the project has been called the moviemaker’s ‘final film,’ with The Hollywood Reporter describing it as an attempt to find ‘one last project in order to be able to ride off into the sunset with his head held high,’ though neither Eastwood nor Juror No. 2’s studio Warner Bros. have said he is planning to retire after completing it. Eastwood was previously seen on set with Nicholas Hoult in June, after the writer’s strike had started but just before his cast had to stop working due to the recently wrapped actor’s strike. Hoult plays a juror sitting for a murder trial who realizes he may be the one who killed the victim during a reckless driving incident, rather than the person on trial. As his guilt eats away at him, he tries to steer his fellow jury members away from convicting the man while attempting not to incriminate himself in front of the prosecutor, played by Toni Collette. “Juror No. 2”, which will be Eastwood’s 40th film as director, is scheduled to be released next year.

Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film, “Juror #2”, is set to shoot in Savannah, Georgia, and Los Angeles. The actor-director will apparently starin the film as well, alongside previously announced Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, and Zoey Deutch. The film is set during a murder trial where one of the jurors (Hoult) slowly realises he killed the victim in a reckless-driving accident and tries to save the defendant without incriminating himself. Hoult’s character struggles with deciding whether to save himself by manipulating the jury or turning himself in. Collette plays the prosecutor. Eastwood directs the feature from a script penned by Jonathan Abrams. Eastwood is also producing the film along with Adam Goodman, Tim Moore, Matt Skiena, and Jessica Meier. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell are executive producing. “Juror #2” is set to begin filming this month. However, with the ongoing WGA writers’ strike, the timeline may shift. A release date is to be announced.

Very exciting news courtesy The Hollywood Reporter, let’s all cross our fingers for it to happen: Legendary actor-director Clint Eastwood is gearing up to make yet another film for his longtime studio home, Warner Bros. The 92-year-old is in the process of casting Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette in Juror No. 2., a legal drama that is set up at Warners. After months of trying to find the right combination of actors and weeks of talks with Hoult and Collette, official offers to the actors went out Thursday. Juror No. 2 will take place during a murder trial and follows a juror, to be played Hoult, who realizes that he may have caused the victim’s death. He must decide whether to manipulate the jury to save himself, or reveal the truth and turn himself in. Collette would play the prosecutor. A production start of mid-June is being eyed, which will make Eastwood 93 years old when cameras begin to roll, making him one of the oldest filmmakers still working. Eastwood is producing the movie with Adam Goodman, the former production president of Paramount-turned-producer. Tim Moore and Jessica Meier are also producing.
