It’s over 20 years since they called Porpoise Spit home in the blockbuster Muriel’s Wedding but Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths have decided to reunite. As it was announced today, the pair will join forces to co-host the G’day USA event later this month in Los Angeles. The dynamic duo – who shot to thespian fame and into our pop culture consciousness for their ABBA-loving ways in the film – will host the annual G’Day USA Los Angeles Gala which will honour prominent Australians from film, television, music, sports and culture for their individual contribution to the US-Australia relationship. Both women have achieved extraordinary recognition and fame and in their own careers and will be a welcome change to an event that at one stage lost its way, but is now back on track to foster business relations between Australia and the United States.
It’s been a busy week for Toni (check the next update with videos) as “Krampus” has received a short but strong promotion for its US release this Friday (yesterday, I know). You can now check pictures from the Los Angeles premiere as well as production stills and a new poster.
After Toronto, London and Sydney, the promotional tour for “Miss You Already” has arrived in New York. Over 100 pictures from the film’s screening, hosted by Montblanc & The Cinema Society, at the Museum of Modern Art have been added to the photo gallery. Additionally today, Toni will be a guest on Good Morning America, so check back later for more media additions.
On Saturday, Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore have attended the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of “Miss You Already”. The two star in Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke’s film about two best friends whose relationship is put to the test when one of the them is diagnosed with breast cancer. Barrymore and Collette were all smiles, in spite of the bad weather, posing for sweet photo ops along with their director. Collette, who opted to shave her head for the role, was originally set to co-star with Jennifer Aniston, before the role went to Barrymore. Pictures from the premiere can be found in the photo gallery.
Also yesterday, Toni and Pierce Brosnan have attended the New York premiere of “A Long Way Down”. The film, based on Nick Hornby’s book, has its US release on July 11. The film has released European cinemas between March-May already to less than charming reviews. Having seen it back then, it’s worth a watch if you’ve enjoyed the book. 200 pictures from the premiere have been added to the photo gallery. Big thanks to Mari for sending in some wonderful HQs. Enjoy the new additions.
Toni has been out and about these past days at a couple of New York events. Most recently, she and Michael Stipe have attended the “Supermensch” screening. On Tuesday, Toni has been a guest at the Sirius XM Studio. And last week, she attended The River Fund: “From Hunger to Hope” fundraiser to and celebrate 20 years of confronting hunger, homelessness and poverty in dozens of local communities.
