Yesterday, the Los Angeles premiere for “The Way, Way Back” was held and Toni Collette was in attendance. View over 100 pictures from the premiere in the image library with additional information on the event and quotes below.

The film reunites Carell and Collette, who last worked together on Little Miss Sunshine. Looking stunning in a crisp black J Brand jumpsuit, Collette called The Way, Way Back “the perfect combination of humor and reality,” noting that audiences may be surprised by Carell’s portrayal of Trent. “He’s so wonderful in this. Audiences are used to him doing these really big comedies, and he’s not entirely likable in this. It’s a good surprise.” On the red carpet at Regal Cinemas at LA Live they were joined by co-stars Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb and Liam James. What were their most memorable summer vacations growing up? “My family and I used to take a lot of camping trips,” recalled Carell. “We’d load up a trailer, like a pop-up tent trailer and we’d explore the White Mountains and go down to Cape Cod. And sort of go all over the place on the East Coast.” Collette grinned describing her best summer, when she was 18. “A bunch of girlfriends pulled up outside my house. I grabbed my guitar and a small backpack and jumped in, and I didn’t know where I was going. We drove up the coast of Australia. We slept on beaches. We went to a folk festival. It was freedom I will never forget.”

“Mental” has been released on DVD in various European countries (instead of a theatrical release), so there was finally a chance to see P.J. Hogan’s reunion with Toni Collette, almost twenty years after “Muriel’s Wedding”. The similarities stop here already, “Mental” is, as described by one reviewer, like Mary Poppins on acid – which is quite fitting. Look out for a personal review in the career section. Over 1.000 DVD screencaptures have been added, alongside screencaptures from an interview with Toni on the set. Video clips will be posted next. Enjoy.

Another new project for Toni! According to the Daily Telegraph, Collette stood out in a cast of men on the set of the new TV series Devil’s Playground in Darlinghurst, dressed conservatively in a blue woollen dress with felt hat – a costume meant to reflect 1980s Australia and not the 1940s as it appeared to observers. The actress has only a small role in new six episode Matchbox Pictures/Screen Australia mini-series which is being directed by Rachel Ward and Tony Krawitz.

Collette wrapped her small role on Wednesday ahead of an appearance on the red carpet last night for the premiere of The Way, Way Back. Also starring in Devil’s Playground, the sequel to Fred Schepisi’s original film The Devil’s Playground, is Jack Thompson who looked the part in clerical robes suggesting he will play either a Catholic cardinal or bishop in the production, to be broadcast on Foxtel. Actors Simon Burke and Christopher Stollery joined Collette and Thompson on Sydney set this week.

On June 06, Toni Collette and Steve Carell have attended the Sydney Film Festival’s premiere of “The Way, Way Back”. Carell made an unexpected appearance after a last-minute text message from mate and Little Miss Sunshine co-star. When Carell got Collette’s message, he surprised her on the theatre’s red carpet after a day of interviews at the Park Hyatt Hotel. “We got to know each other even better on this film, because it was shot in (Carell’s) home town in Massachusetts. “Toni had a little beach house in that area and her baby and her husband were there. It was really fun, a really nice family time”. Pictures from the premiere can be found in the gallery.
