Bright Stars: The Trailblazer
Australians fell in love with Collette when she starred in P.J. Hogan’s Muriel’s Wedding, a role she still counts among her favourites. Just over 15 years on, Collette’s resume is as diverse and engaging as the woman herself—she has successfully blended international hits, like The Sixth Sense, About a Boy and Little Miss Sunshine, with compelling home-grown films, such as The Black Balloon and Japanese Story. And she still can’t hide her passion. “I love the all-or-nothing attitude [of the film industry], the sense of unity and commitment—and the moments when the story takes on its own energy and flies beyond individual hands.” Along with her Emmy Award-winning role in United States of Tara (on ABC-TV) Collette has three new films in the pipeline, including her current project, a remake of Fright Night in 3D. Next year she’s also tipped to reunite with Hogan in the hotly anticipated Australian comedy, Mental.
