Toni Collette’s motion picture debut, the Mark Joffe directed “Spotswood” from 1992, has been recently released on Blu-Ray. If you’re looking for the perfect Australian time capsule, this one’s for you. Thrown in the mix with baby-faced Ben Mendelsohn and Russell Crowe, Toni’s performance as small-town Wendy earned her a first AFI nomination, let alone a prominent spot next to Anthony Hopkins, who ventured to Australia only known to film buffs and fans of the British theatre – and wrapped it weeks before receiving an Academy Award for the performance of a lifetime – as Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs”. Screencaptures from the Blu-Ray have been added to the photo gallery. Since not all of Toni’s scenes have been transfered to the American version (titled “The Efficiency Expert”), those screencaptures have been kept in the gallery as deleted scenes. Enjoy.
