CANNES HONOUR FOR TONI COLLETTE
Posted: 2007-04-21

Toni Collette has been picked to join the film elite on the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Collette will serve on the prestigious Palme d'Or jury, headed this year by British director Stephen Frears, who made the award-winning film The Queen. He and Collette will be joined by seven other personalities from the cinema and literary worlds, including actress Maggie Cheung from China, and Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk from Turkey. Veteran directors Quentin Tarantino, Emir Kusturica, Gus Van Sant and Wong Kar Wai will be vying against a large group of up-and-coming young filmmakers for the top prize at this year's festival. The mix of old and new in the list of the 21 films competing for the Palme d'Or trophy during the May 16-27 event showed how the cinema event - the biggest in the world - was striving to remain fresh even as it celebrated its 60th year.

Article courtesy AidelaideNow: AWWW, she likes us, she really likes us. In the May edition of Vogue Australia, actor Toni Collette has nothing but praise for the City of Churches. Collette, who was in town shooting feature film Esther Blueburger , says Adelaide is a place she just loves. She tells Vogue : "I have always had wild, fantastic times there. "I drove in the Grand Prix there and I really went for it. It was the first place I ever danced on a bar." Hmmm. Sounds like it was a big night. With glowing praise like that, she's welcome back any time.
