Jesus Henry Christ, writer-director Dennis Lee’s follow-up to Fireflies in the Garden will be released in the US next month, and with a cast headed up by Michael Sheen and Toni Collette, it sounds promising. The film is centred on a young boy, played Jason Spevack (Sunshine Cleaning), looking for his biological father (Michael Sheen), and Apple have debuted the first trailer. You can watch the trailer in the video archive – HD screencaptures have been added to the gallery.

Anthony LaPaglia and Toni Collette are to make their directorial debuts as part of a group of filmmakers who will each direct one of 12 stories that will make up the new Sydney Unplugged feature project. Director John Polson, founder of the Sydney based Tropfest short film festival, and Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton are producing Sydney Unplugged as an ode to their home city in the vein of Paris Je T’aime and New York Stories. Directors Alex Proyas, David Michôd, Ivan Sen, John Curran, Kieran Darcy-Smith, Liev Schreiber, Rachel Ward, Ray Lawrence and Russell Crowe will also helm one of each of the short films. Polson hatched the idea for the Sydney film, which will be part funded by Screen Australia, when he met Gary Hamilton at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Shooting is due to take place here in the second half of 2012. ”It’s no secret some hugely talented directors, actors and others either live here or are from here. It’s about time this talent got together to tell stories that showcase one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The people that have stepped up to take part in this project are beyond our wildest dreams,” said Polson announcing the talent line up on Monday, following the 20th anniversary of Trofest on Sunday. Sydney Unplugged will be released in Australia by Icon Film Distribution in 2013, and sold internationally by Arclight Films.

According to Screen Daily, Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired all North American rights to Toni Collette/Michael Sheen family comedy “Jesus Henry Christ”. The Red Om Films production directed by Dennis Lee had its premiere at last year’s Tribeca festival and is expected to open in US and Canadian theatres in the spring. Based on Lee’s award-winning short film of the same name, Jesus Henry Christ revolves around a 10-year-old boy genius and his single mother and a 12-year-old girl and her university professor father. Phil Rose, Lisa Gillan and Sukee Chew produced and Julia Roberts and Deepak Nayar executive produced. The film was financed by Reliance Entertainment and packaged by CAA, which negotiated the deal with eOne. Worldwide rights are being handled by IM Global.
