The Chicago Tribunte has an in-depth article on what will be changing for “United States of Tara”s second season: The transition from film to television can be rocky for some actors. But not for Toni Collette, the star of Showtime’s “United States of Tara.” “The one thing I am loving is the pace of TV. It’s so quick,” the actress said in a recent interview in Los Angeles on the first day of shooting for Season 2 of “Tara,” which returns in early 2010. “There’s no sitting around. You get to do more of what you love, every day.” If anyone has excelled at the art of the quick transition, it’s Collette, who flawlessly plays four characters on the show. Collette’s primary character, Tara Gregson, is a suburban mom with dissociative identity disorder (DID), which causes her to turn into one of three “alters” whenever she’s stressed. Collette’s versatility in the role is impressive, and members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences agreed: The actress is up for a best comedy actress award at the Sept. 20 Emmy Awards ceremony.

Article courtesy Entertainment Weekly: Looks like love is in the air for Toni Collette’s male alter on United States of Tara. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy) is joining the Showtime comedy’s season 2 cast as Pammy, a funny and warm barmaid who has a history of picking the wrong guys. Her luck changes the day she meets “Buck” and falls head over heels in love. Adams is on board for at least three episodes. Tara’s 12-episode second season debuts in early 2010.

The following quote comes from the Associated Press:

I never thought I’d work in television and when this show came along I was just so excited to work on something so original and had such amazing dialogue and the story is just incredible and has endless possibilities. Then for it to go on and e recognized in this way is a complete delight. It’s a surprise and also quite joyous.

The Australian Women’s Weekly has an article on Toni in its July issue: Toni Collette has come a long way from her difficult 20s. Today, she is a successful actress with a loving husband and beautiful daughter, who has found her true path, as she tells Michael Sheather. Toni Collette’s smile is practically incandescent. In the grey and shadowy confines of a rooftop office, not far from Sydney’s CBD, Toni, the 36-year-old actress and star of such international hits as Muriel’s Wedding, The Sixth Sense and Little Miss Sunshine, radiates a welcome warmth and brightness on a cold winter’s morning.
