Toni bids to keep green in fashion
July 02 2007Toni Collette has told Australians that going green should not be a fad, but rather an all-encompassing way of life. Collette, who will perform as part of the line-up at the Live Earth concert in Sydney on Saturday, said she hoped the event would kick-start a major shift in awareness. "I just hope that it's not a trendy fad or fashion for people," the 34-year-old Hollywood star said. "It's not going to go away. It's about a change of life for us. They're small changes but, collectively, they make a big difference. "I hope that people understand that we need to make imminent changes in our day-to-day lives. "The government is so good at making us feel helpless.
But we can all, as individuals, help make a difference simply by being aware of our choices and their consequences." Performing with her band the Finish, Collette will join a line-up of musicians at the event that includes Crowded House, Wolfmother, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly and Jack Johnson. Other celebrities will take part in the full-day festival by introducing acts and making speeches about environmental issues. The Sydney event will be held at Aussie Stadium in Moore Park and will be one of the first in a day of concerts in cities all over the world, including London, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Johannesburg, Tokyo and London.
