Article courtesy ShockTillYouDrop: Tuesday at CinemaCon brought the second studio presentation, this one from DreamWorks, and the one movie ShockTillYouDrop.com readers will want to know about is the Craig (Lars and the Real Girl) Gillespie-directed 3D remake of the 1985 cult classic Fright Night. Instead of showing a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel like the movies before them, Gillespie showed an 8-minute chunk of the movie that was filmed and screened entirely in 3D. It opens with Charlie Brewster’s mother Jane, played by Toni Collette, walking into his room while he’s whittling a piece of wood into a stake, and when they go downstairs, Charlie’s girlfriend Amy, played by Imogen Poots, is there wondering why he’s been acting so strangely. Before they get too far into the conversation, Farrell’s Jerry knocks at the door telling Charlie’s mother that Charlie has been harassing him and that he wants to come in to talk about it rather than going to the authorities. Charlie begs his mother not to give him permission to come into the house so she refuses and he walks off but then returns menacingly with a shovel and walks out of view. The full article, including an interview with director Craig Gillespie and Colin Farrell, can be read here.

MTV News has spoken to Dave Franco, the latest added cast member of “Fright Night”, on how the remake, which co-stars Colin Farrell and Toni Collette, has changed from the 1980s classic: Aside from casting announcements and filming locations, the buzz surrounding the “Fright Night” remake has been relatively quiet of late. MTV News recently caught up with newly announced castmember Dave Franco (“Scrubs”) to get insider info on his character, as well as his take on the remake of Tom Holland’s 1985 campy horror classic. Regarding the new version of the ’85 slasher, Franco said director Craig Gillespie has put his own spin on it. “The original is very campy, very ’80s in an awesome way. … It’s a cult classic. That movie would not work today,” Franco said. “It’s obviously the same concept, but a lot has changed to make everything make sense now. For example, my character wasn’t even in the original, so they’ve changed a lot and added a lot of school elements, just let it build a little more.” Complete article is here.

The producers of “Fright Night” have found their final cast member in British actress Imogen Poots. Poots will play the lead female role in DreamWorks’ remake of the 1985 film. Poots is the final addition to a cast that already includes the likes of Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, and Toni Collette. The film focuses on a young teen, Yelchin, who is convinced that his new neighbor, Farrell, is actually a vampire. Yelchin’s character struggles to convince his mother, Collette, and others around him of Farrell’s true identity. Poots will play the role of Yelchin’s girlfriend in the film. With casting complete, the project can begin filming in New Mexico later this summer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Farrell and Toni Collette will sink their teeth into “Fright Night,” DreamWorks’ remake of the cult 1985 film. The two join Anton Yelchin in the new version, which sticks to the original concept of a teen (Yelchin) being convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, though no one will believe him. Farrell has the plum role of the vampire, named Jerry, who on the surface appears to be a cool guy but is really preying on the neighborhood. Chris Sarandon played the role in the 1985 pic. Collette is Yelchin’s mom, who at first disapproves of the new arrival but changes her attitude when she meets the magnetic man and – surprise – doesn’t believe her son when he tries to tell her Jerry is a vampire.
