“Foster” to world-premiere at Rome International Film Festival

One of Toni’s most recent feature films, “Foster”, will celebrate its world-premiere at this year’s Rome International Film Festival. Looking to adopt a child and unable to conceive a child of their own, the Morrison’s (Toni Collette and Ioan Gruffudd) lives are turned upside down when a 7 year old boy unexpectedly shows up on their doorstep. Foster co-stars Richard E Grant, Oscar winner Hayley Mills and newcomer Maurice Cole. In the wake of this news, a first still and poster have been released.

Life after Tara: What’s next for Toni Collette

With yesterday’s series finale of “United States of Tara”, Toni Collette won’t be a weekly regular on television anymore, at least not for now. For all wondering what will be next, Toni has wrapped three films already and another one in the making – so even if “Tara” has ended, Miss Collette’s career will not :-) First in line is the anticipated remake of “Fright Night”, which will premiere in US theaters on August 19, 2011. Then, there are two independent drama comedies with no release date as of now – “Jesus Henry Christ”, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, and “Foster”. This Summer, Toni will also reunite with her “Muriel’s Wedding” director, P.J. Hogan, for the dark Australian comedy “Mental”, in which Toni will play the lead role of Shaz, a nanny hired to look after five sisters after their mother is committed to a mental institution.

On the set of “Foster” with the BBC

The BBC has visited the set of “Foster” in England last month and has interviewed the cast and crew of the film. Toni has not been interviewed, but can be seen shooting scenes with Ioan Gruffudd.

Toni Collette heads from “Tara” to “Foster”

News courtesy Deadline Hollywood: Showtime just started airing the 2nd season of Toni Collette’s Emmy-winning tour de force, The United States Of Tara. But she and Ioan Gruffudd star in the family film that started shooting yesterday for six weeks on location in London. Richard E Grant and Hayley Mills and Anne Reid (The Mother) round out the cast. Foster marks the second collaboration between director Jonathan Newman and producer Deepak Nayar (The Walker). Newman only finished doing pick-up shots on their first collaboration, Swinging With the Finkels, the day before Foster’s filming began. Collette and Gruffudd play a married couple who decide to adopt after their own son is killed. One day a boy unexpectedly arrives on their doorstep. There’s a terrific twist that I can only describe as a feel-good Sixth Sense. It gives me shivers every time I think about it. The film’s based on a previously made Newman short, which he sold to both the BBC and HBO. Peter Farrelly, one half of the infamous Farrelly brothers, was so impressed that he telephoned Newman out of the blue and invited him out to LA to work on the feature together.
